It looks like I’m sticking with Reading in Heels after two very impressive boxes (July, August). September’s box came a little later in the month following an announcement by the company about a personal bereavement, but the box was certainly worth the wait.
1. The Rise and Fall of Becky Sharp by Sarra Manning
2. Juno Skincare Joie Face Oil by @junoskincare
3. Kacao Chocolate Botanical Bar by @kacaochoc
4. Two Conscious Water sachets from Conscious Water
5. Mythyn Melusine Silk Bath Soak by Mythyn
Is it bad to admit I’ve never read “Vanity Fair”? This month’s book is said to be a modern retelling of the story, bringing Becky Sharp up to date and I’m kind of glad to be going in without any background knowledge on the plot. I’m not totally won over by the blurb but happy to have my first impressions proved wrong when I get around to reading it! (update: see my review here)
As for the little extras this month, I was glad to see the colour scheme again, even though it was even more subtle this time with shades of orange throughout. I love the thought that goes into this colour scheme each month, it makes it feel that extra bit special to open.
The chocolate and some little sachets to flavour water were a nice treat to open and I’m looking forward to giving this slightly exotic flavour a try (white chocolate with grapefruit and basil!) With the sachets, all you do is squeeze the flavour packet into a glass of water or a bottle. I’ve tried the Love sachet and while it was a nice change from plain water, I probably won’t be rushing out to by more for myself.
If you’re not already aware, I’m a massive bath fan! The day before receiving my box I had actually said that I needed to top up my box of bath goodies and look what fell on my door stop the next day! This bath soak looks perfect and will be a lovely addition to my next bath, especially as it’s said to be ultra relaxing and hydrating.
The only thing I’m not sure about is the face oil. I never really know what to do with them and currently have a little box of oils that I’ve not used! I’m slightly wary of them making my combination skin even more oily! Does anyone have any instructions…?
September has brought us another great box. Can Reading in Heels keep it up? We’ll see this time next month when I’ll be opening October’s box!
Have you tried any book subscription boxes? Let me know what you thought of them in the comments!
