7 Day Book Challenge

I’ve been taking a little reading break this week and was delighted to be nominated in the 7 Day Book Challenge over on Instagram (find me @whatrebeccasread)

The challenge is simple: post one book cover a day for seven days, without an explanation, rating or review. I suppose the idea is to get people talking about the books rather than just reading one person’s opinion.

  1. I’ve only read The Diary of a Young Girl. I wasn’t able to get through Cloud Atlas and I didn’t quite enjoy the movie adaptation. But I want to read The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell.

    1. I think that Cloud Atlas is a bit like marmite! Some people love it and others really can’t get on with it! Have you read anything else by David Mitchell? I’ve not read the one you’ve mentioned by will look into it now as I’ve enjoyed several others!

      1. Unfortunately, I haven’t read anything about him yet and I am not familiar with his other books except these two. Can you suggest one as an introduction of his works to me? I’d appreciate it.😊

      2. Of course it depends on your tastes, but I’d recommend Slade House which is one of my favourites. Mitchell’s books are usually quite long, so starting one of those would be quite a commitment when you’re unsure. Slade House is shorter but still great in my eyes! 📚

  2. The only one of these books I’ve heard of is Anne Frank. It is one of my favourite books because it feels as if Anne is talking directly to you. I’ve not read it since last year though it deserves a reread. What a great idea for a tag – I think it’s important to start a conversation without it being one sided!

      1. I think it would be nice to have more realistic historical fictions based around this era. Obviously Anne Frank is non-fiction but the other books I know of that are based around this period seem to be a little bit unrealistic. Such as The Tatooist Of Auschwitz. Do you have any recommendations? x

      2. Well if you’ve only read one, I reckon The Diary of Anne Frank is the best one to have read. You’re right, it’s a powerful read. Have you been to Amsterdam? I’d love to go and see the house for myself.
