Summary:

Tabitha is stuck. She still lives in the small town she grew up in…the town she’s barely ever left.

So, when her dad drops a bombshell over their weekly Sunday dinner, Tabitha takes a look at her own life. She lives firmly in her comfort zone and doesn’t know how to break out. Sometimes she wishes she should go back and start it all again.

When she meets Bea, a free spirit like no one else she’s ever known with an ‘interesting’ sense of style, Tabitha quickly befriends her, recognising in Bea the change she’s been craving. But soon it becomes clear that more has changed than her new friend. Somehow Tabitha has been transported back to the 1980s.

With the chance to reinvent herself in another time, will Tabitha finally manage to move forward?

Thoughts:

Not being a mum, I don’t actually follow Louise Pentland on social media, but I know of her (she has over 9 million combined followers across her social platforms!). Her latest novel is funny, relatable and bound to put a smile on your face!

I found “Time After Time! to be a fun easy read that I devoured in just a couple of sittings. I really enjoyed following leading lady Tabitha as she grew and developed in confidence, truly learning to believe in herself. Tabby runs (or almost runs) a vintage shop in present day. Her best friend Vivi is a regular visitor and is Tabby’s biggest supporter, constantly telling her how amazing she is! Aged 26 with a long term boyfriend, David, a cosy cottage roof over her head and a job she enjoys, Tabby seems to have it all, but there’s just something missing.

It’s difficult to describe the main plotline without some major spoilers, so just know that there’s a unique magical twist that’s really fun and adds some fantastic details to this storyline.

More of a friendship story than a romance, this books is full of good vibes, a little bit of nostalgia and plenty to keep you entertained. The writing style is casual and you feel like you’re reading something written by a friend. The characters are all well developed and I liked them all, especially Tabby’s mum. I did find the storyline to be predictable and cliché at times but that’s okay as it didn’t take away from my enjoyment overall.

I’ve read that this book had many nods to the author’s life, so I’m sure fans of Louise will really love this one! If you’re looking for a quick, light hearted read, even you’re one of her followers, give this a go.

Overall rating: Louise Pentland’s “Time After Time” is a fun, light-hearted story about a woman growing in confidence. I enjoyed the story and the characters too. It’s 4 stars from me!
