Book Review: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

A disappointing YA read better suited for very very young adults. The main character is childish and immature which makes her unlikable in this romance story. Some cute moments but not enough to bring ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before” more than 2 stars.… Read More Book Review: To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Book Review: The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters

This one is difficult to review without saying too much but it’s full of suspense, anticipation and has an atmosphere I felt immersed in. I loved this psychological thriller and will be scoring “The Paying Guests” 5 stars.… Read More Book Review: The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters

Book Review: This Must Be The Place by Maggie O’Farrell

An enjoyable story of a couple set over a number of different times, locations and told through a large range of characters. Well written and detailed but a little long and a few too many view points for me to keep up with. I’m scoring “This Must Be The Place” 3 stars.… Read More Book Review: This Must Be The Place by Maggie O’Farrell

Book Review: The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon

An amusing and enjoyable story of hidden secrets and community life set in Britain the 70s. I sped through this story of two 10 year olds solving a neighbour’s disappearance. I’ll be giving “The Trouble with Goats and Sheep” 4 stars.… Read More Book Review: The Trouble with Goats and Sheep by Joanna Cannon

Book Review: Walking The Himalayas by Levison Wood

A quick informative read of a man’s adventure through The Himalayas. Honest, interesting and raw, author Levison Wood gives a detailed account of the places he sees and the people he meets which leads me to score “Walking The Himalayas” a good 4 stars.… Read More Book Review: Walking The Himalayas by Levison Wood

Book Review: Wish You Were Here by Mike Gayle

A light holiday read about a holiday which couldn’t get much worse. Easy to read and enjoyable too, it’s not fantastic literature, but it’s not claiming to be either. I’ll be giving “Wish You Were Here” 4 stars.… Read More Book Review: Wish You Were Here by Mike Gayle

Book Review: The Girls by Lori Lansens

A story of family, love and overcoming adversity. “The Girls” is written in the style of such a convincing memoir that I felt it was real and in some way, I wanted it to be real. I’m giving Lori Lansens’ heartwarming story 5 stars.… Read More Book Review: The Girls by Lori Lansens

I was kindly sent a copy of this book so that I could take part in the @tandemcollectiveuk read-along. A group of us read this book over a few days, stopping each day to reflect on how the book made us feel and what we’ve taken away from it (Ad - PR Product) 💜🧡 Yes please! 🙏🏻 It's my stop on the blog tour for #SqueakyClean by @callumrmcsorley! 📚📚📚 I'm currently taking part in a read-along organised by @tandemcollectiveuk for the book #Enchantment by @katherinemay_ 💜🧡 A big thank you to @tandemcollectiveuk for sending me a copy of #Enchantment by @katherinemay_ 💜🧡 I was kindly sent a copy of this book a few weeks ago and I was so surprised to open the package to find a book named after me! The cover suggested that my life isn’t quite as scandalous as this one though! 🫣 I’ve just finished my next Quick Reads, “The Swimmer” by Graham Norton. I’ve never read anything by Graham Norton before so his literature is new to me ☕ I love a quick read!! ❤️❤️ Having previously enjoyed “The Salt Path“, a memoir written and narrated by Raynor Winn, I decided to give her second book a try 🫖 What are you reading right now?? 📚📚📚 I've finished 'Whistle in the Dark', another long time resident on my bookshelf! It was good, but not as gripping as I had expected it to be. A nice 3 star read ⭐⭐⭐/5 ‘Elizabeth is Missing‘ is one of the first books I reviewed on this blog back in 2017. Not long after, I bought Emma Healey‘s next book ‘Whistle in the Dark’ but for some reason I can’t explain, I popped it on my bookshelf and there it stayed, until now! I’ve read a few books recently that have sat on my shelf for a while and I’ve made it my mission to stop neglecting my bookshelf in favour of newer, shinier books! 🙈 ‘The Girls Are Good’ is a quick novel set in the world of gymnastics, and oh my, it’s a tough world! 😢 The perfect Saturday morning: a big old cup of tea and a book! You all said this was a great book and OMG, you were right! 💙🧡❤️ Ummm, did you know this book was soooo good?!! Yes! Of course you did because so many of you told me it was and I was the stupid one who kept putting it off! 🙈🙈 I've been putting off this book for so long because Daisy Jones & Evelyn Hugo are two of my all time favourites and I'm scared that this one isn't going to live up to them! But this is it.... I'm going in! Ahhhh! Tell me, what did you think of Malibu Rising?? 🧡 I think it's fair to say that Babel has earned a place in my all time favourite books 😍 "Babel" is a dark academia novel combining language, linguistics and etymology with fantastic character development, some fantasy & some deep conflict. My favourite lunchtime spot 📚⏰💕 What or where is your favourite book shop? What a cosy read! ❄️ In 'The Winter Cottage', Rilla Clark has moved to the Scottish Highlands to try and sort out her late father’s property and make the necessary arrangements. Rilla has fond memories of her childhood in town but she hasn’t been back in quite a long time. Coming back home means she has the chance to reconnect with some of people she once knew, mostly Lachlan Fraser and his sisters Charlotte, Beth and Polly 🤗 My love of books means there are soooo many to choose from! Sometimes I just stare at the bookshelves and feel a little overwhelmed at all of the options! Omg! Look what just landed on my door step, a book named after me! 👸🏼 I have a feeling my life isn't quite as scandalous as this one though.... #TheHistoryoftheMusical is quite a unique audiobook in that it plays extracts of over 120 songs and combines them with narrated facts about musicals throughout time. As soon as someone finds out that I write book reviews, they ask me what my favourite book is and I always always always struggle to come up with an answer! Do you have a number 1 favourite book, or a few favourites that you flick between like me?? 💕
