A quick, enjoyable read which I hope can remind those in need that they are not alone in feeling how they do. As an important account of one young man's struggle with mental illness, this is not something I can 100% relate with, yet "Reasons to Stay Alive" is beautifully written with inspirational quotes on every page and I'm giving it 3 stars.
I found "Names for the Sea" to be full of interesting facts and details of Icelandic culture, historical background and family stories. Yet the story was padded out with boring details of supermarket struggles and domestic complaints. I'll be giving Sarah Moss' "Names for the Sea" 2 stars.
An informative read about my favourite animal which really put a smile on my face. 5 stars!
A disappointing 2 stars for a book I just couldn't enjoy no matter how hard I tried. Dragged out, sluggish and whiny yet interspersed by engaging and interesting chapters, sadly this story of self discovery was just not for me.
A well written quick read providing an intelligent reflection of women's friendship, secrecy, deceit and lies in recent history. I give "Upstairs at the Party" a positive 4 stars.
