Norwegian Wood” by Japanese author Haruki Murakami had been on my list for a while but unfortunately it didn't turn out to be my cup of tea. I enjoyed the writing style and some of the more poignant chapters but struggled quite a lot with the plot. This was a 2 star read for me.
"Such a Fun Age" is a topical read that I believe is worth the hype it's getting. I appreciate how the author has managed to leave us thinking about some really important topics, without being preachy. I sped through this and will happily give it a big 5 stars!
'Ignatius' by Dan Wood is an exciting page turner that I really enjoyed. It's well detailed and has plenty of chapter cliff hangers that'll make you want to keep reading. The characters are likeable and I hope this isn't the last we see of this pairing. I'm giving 'Ignatius' a great big 5 stars!
It's my stop on the blog tour for "Crocodile Tears", my first crime fiction read of the year and also my first read from Uruguay. I was pleasantly surprised by this comic caper and especially it's quirky characters. A really enjoyable 4 stars from me!
“Perfect Prey” is another great D.I. Callanach book by Helen Fields. The murders were gruesome and the story was gripping both of which made for a really great crime story! A 4 star read for me!
“This Time Next Year" by Sophie Cousens is a quirky rom-com with a lot of heart. Minnie Cooper's story makes for a really enjoyable read and a great pick-me-up at the end of a difficult year! 5 stars!
"Girl, Woman, Other" is a worthy winner of the Booker Prize. Telling the story of 12 interconnected fictional characters, this is a fantastic observational novel that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend - 5 stars!
It's my stop on the blog tour for "Coyote Fork", a contemporary thriller that'll certainly make you think about your social media usage. I was kept engaged throughout and I enjoyed the many twists and turns along the way. A strong 4 stars from me!
"Perfect Remains" is a great start to the D.I. Callanach series by Helen Fields. I really enjoyed the narration in this audiobook and the crime story kept me gripped too. This was a 4 star read for me, not quite perfect, but very good!
"The Haunting of Hill House" wasn't as scary as I had expected and the story wasn't what I was expecting either! That said, I really enjoyed this classic horror. It's well written and the protagonist is one of my favourite characters in a long time - 4 stars!
