Book Review: The Skylight by Louise Candlish

“The Skylight” is a quick read that you can read in one go. It was a little too predictable for my tastes and I probably won’t be recommending it. A 2 star read for me.… Read More Book Review: The Skylight by Louise Candlish

What a cosy read! ❄️ In 'The Winter Cottage', Rilla Clark has moved to the Scottish Highlands to try and sort out her late father’s property and make the necessary arrangements. Rilla has fond memories of her childhood in town but she hasn’t been back in quite a long time. Coming back home means she has the chance to reconnect with some of people she once knew, mostly Lachlan Fraser and his sisters Charlotte, Beth and Polly 🤗 My love of books means there are soooo many to choose from! Sometimes I just stare at the bookshelves and feel a little overwhelmed at all of the options! Omg! Look what just landed on my door step, a book named after me! 👸🏼 I have a feeling my life isn't quite as scandalous as this one though.... #TheHistoryoftheMusical is quite a unique audiobook in that it plays extracts of over 120 songs and combines them with narrated facts about musicals throughout time. As soon as someone finds out that I write book reviews, they ask me what my favourite book is and I always always always struggle to come up with an answer! Do you have a number 1 favourite book, or a few favourites that you flick between like me?? 💕 So it seems I might be the only book blogger out here who hasn’t read “It Ends With Us” and I have to admit, I was about half way through “It Starts With Us” before I realised that the sequel’s cover art and the title seemed quite familiar to me. So, yes, I have just accidentally read book two before book one.. whoops! 🙈🙈 And we're done! 2022 ✅ So here we are, the end of 2022! 2021 somehow feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago all at the same time! 🤯 "Don’t Stop Believin'” by Olivia Newton-John is probably even more poignant since her death earlier this year. I enjoyed this candid autobiography and have learned a lot about the life that this musical superstar had 💕 Diving straight in with another Taylor Jenkins Reid book! What's your favourite?? 🌼 Christmas is just around the corner! What are you reading right now? 🎄🎄 I've just posted my review of #TheSwimmers by Julie Otsuka, a book split into five sections, each with a different narrative and style 🏊‍♂️ It’s my stop on the “Animal Life” blog tour! Thanks very much to @pushkin_press who have kindly provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review 💕 It’s my stop on the “A Mother’s Christmas Wish” blog tour! Thanks very much to @rachelsrandomresources and author @flaming_nora who have kindly provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review 💕 I'm a big fan of 'Kim's Convenience’ and was so pleased to see Simu Liu, the guy I'd known as playing loveable Jung Kim, was cast as the leading man in a Marvel movie. Reflecting on his journey that lead him to where he is now, 'We Were Dreamers' is Simu's memoir 🌟 Here's my Hiromi Kawakami Collection! ❤️🇯🇵❤️ The latest of my Quick Reads, I’ve just finished reading “Sofia Khan and the Baby Blues” by Ayisha Malik 👶🏽❤️ Today I'm reviewing 'Dear Fatty', a 2008 memoir by Dawn French. Has anyone read this one?? 📚 “To Be a Gay Man” by Will Young is a quick read, narrated in audiobook by Will himself. The book is half memoir and half a delve into the past and present of LGBTQ+ existence in society 🏳️‍🌈 I loved this one! A murder mystery investigated by none other than Her Majesty The Queen... at Christmas! 👑🔎🎄 It's my stop on the blog tour for 'Murder Most Royal' by @sophiabennett_writer 👑 Adding to my TJR collection 😍😍😍 “Daisy Jones and the Six” and “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” are two of my favourite reads of recent years so I figured it was about time I tried something else by the author, Taylor Jenkins Reid. I chose “One True Loves” as soon as I saw it pop up on my library app in audiobook format and wow, I’m so glad I did! 😍😍😍 Another little book picked up in my local library, I’ve just finished reading ‘Jack and Jill’ by Lucy Cavendish. This is another of The Reading Agency‘s Quick Reads, from about a decade ago. If you’re not familair with it, this is a scheme which aims to make reading accessible to all 👏🏻👏🏻 Another day, another tour!
