Audiobook Review: Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo

November 25, 2020November 25, 20204 Comments

"Girl, Woman, Other" is a worthy winner of the Booker Prize. Telling the story of 12 interconnected fictional characters, this is a fantastic observational novel that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend - 5 stars!

Audiobook Review: The Salt Path by Raynor Winn

September 17, 2020September 17, 20202 Comments

"The Salt Path" tells the true story of a couple walking the South West Coast Path. It's wonderfully written and I enjoyed the narration too. With some important messages, this is a thought-provoking read about taking life day by day. It was a great 4 star read for me!

Audiobook Review: Someone We Know by Shari Lapena

September 6, 2020September 6, 20203 Comments

It's 3 stars for Shari Lapena's “Someone We Know", a story full of secrets, gossip and infidelity. I enjoyed it, but it was an okay read for me and probably not one I'll remember long term.

Audiobook Review: The Lost Words by Robert Macfarlane

August 18, 2020August 18, 20202 Comments

"The Lost Words" is a beautiful audiobook, narrated by a selection of famous voices. I enjoyed this collection of poetry, but I can't help but feel that the print book would have made for a more magical read. It’s 3 stars from me.

Audiobook Review: Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker

August 12, 2020August 12, 2020Leave a comment

"Why We Sleep" is a really educational read that I'd recommend for anyone interested in the subject of sleep. It covers all aspects of the topic without being overwhelming. This was a good 4 star read for me!

Audiobook Review: Tell Me a Secret by Jane Fallon

July 9, 2020July 9, 2020Leave a comment

“Tell Me a Secret” is a light-hearted look at a work friendship. Can you trust your work colleagues with your deepest secrets? Despite being a little predictable, I enjoyed this story but probably wouldn't recommend the audiobook. This was a good three star read for me.

Audiobook Review: Becoming by Michelle Obama

June 19, 2020June 19, 20206 Comments

"Becoming" is an eloquent memoir by Michelle Obama. I enjoyed this candid look at her life so far and feel that I've learned a lot from listening to her stories. This was a 5 star read for me!

Audiobook Review: After the End by Clare Mackintosh

May 16, 2020May 16, 20207 Comments

“After the End” is an emotional, contemporary novel about two people facing the hardest decision of their lives. I enjoyed the narration and would definitely recommend the audiobook - this was a great 4 star read for me.

Book Review: No One is Too Small to Make a Difference by Greta Thunberg

April 29, 2020April 29, 20207 Comments

This little book contains some highly influential and powerful speeches given by climate change activist Greta Thunberg over the past year. I'm knocking off a star because if you consider this book as a whole, it's quite repetitive, but still a recommended read. 4 stars!

Book Review: The Unloved by Deborah Levy

July 2, 2019April 27, 20205 Comments

Deborah Levy's early novel "The Unloved" was odd and felt disconnected. I didn't really understand what was going on and therefore didn't enjoy reading it very much - 1 star.
