“Ponti” is funny, sad and awkward, unlike anything I’ve read in a long time. I loved this book from Sharlene Teo and can’t wait to see what she writes next – 5 stars! … Read More Book Review: Ponti by Sharlene Teo

A story of espionage during WW2 sounds like it’s going to be a winner, but in reality I found that “Transcription” was a little boring and slow-paced for my liking. I liked the premise, but the story didn’t impress – 2 stars.… Read More Book Review: Transcription by Kate Atkinson

Georgina Horspool is so real it’s difficult not to love her. Unemployed and single on the same day and heading home to a roommate who’s not her biggest fan either. I’ve enjoyed every Rare Birds Book Club book that I’ve received and I’ve certainly been impressed with the selection so far! Another great choice from the
Rare Birds Book Club. “The Illumination of Ursula Flight” is a fun, quirky tale of a young girl growing up in the 17th century. Very different to what I would normally choose but I enjoyed it and it’s 4 stars from me.… Read More Book Review: The Illumination of Ursula Flight by Anna-Marie Crowhurst
After what felt like the longest January ever, February is flying by!
I really loved the last Rare Birds Book Club book, “Dear Mrs Bird” and was looking forward to seeing what February had in store.
“Dear Mrs Bird” tells the heartwarming story of plucky heroine, Emmy Lake and her best friend Bunty, two young women living in London in the 1940s. The characters are warm, funny and charming and all help to highlight the incredible impact that war had on people’s personal lives, as well as the contributions of hardworking men and women at the time. I really enjoyed this one – 5 stars.… Read More Book Review: Dear Mrs Bird by A.J. Pearce
New year, new book! After signing up to the Rare Birds Book Club in November 2018, I decided to skip December’s read as there was just too much going on (wine, food and hangovers!) to give my full attention to another book. Now 5 days into 2019, January’s book has landed on my door step.… Read More Rare Birds Book Club: January 2019
