Again I'm underwhelmed by Jessie Burton, and I'm beginning to think that perhaps she's not the author for me. "The Miniaturist" started well but couldn't really keep me interested and its 400+ pages dragged on quite a lot which definitely didn't help the situation. I didn't hate it but I won't be recommending this book to anyone in a hurry - 2 stars.

Book Review: The Bone Clocks by David Mitchell
"The Bone Clocks" was a massive disappointment. Full of characters I didn't care for and plot points that didn't have any relevance to the story whatsoever, I struggled to finish this book and am glad to have returned it to the library. Holly Sykes was a great character but those around her didn't add much to the story and just made it drag on and on and on. I didn't hate it, but I couldn't love it so "The Bone Clocks" gets 2 stars from me.
Book Review: I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes
A long drawn out thriller with the potential to be a good book if only 600 pages were removed! I found this book was trying too hard to be something it's not. I didn't hate "I am Pilgrim" but I really didn't love it either meaning I'll be giving this one 2 stars.
Book Review: The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters
This one is difficult to review without saying too much but it's full of suspense, anticipation and has an atmosphere I felt immersed in. I loved this psychological thriller and will be scoring "The Paying Guests" 5 stars.
Book Review: Us by David Nicholls
An enjoyable read about a disastrous "Grand Tour" and the dynamics between the family members who have embarked on it. A light read which is still able to delve into some serious topics. Slightly too dragged out for my liking which scores David Nicholls' "Us" three stars.
Book Review: Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey
Highly recommended, I really enjoyed this quick read. Providing a detailed and vivid insight into the mind of an elderly woman with dementia was both interesting and amusing at points which leads me to rate this book 4 stars.
