Book Review: Coconut Unlimited by Nikesh Shukla

“Coconut Unlimited” is a short and sweet look back at the teenage years of three Asian boys. It’s not a hard read but for me it wasn’t all that interested either. I feel like it was intended for a much smaller audience and this story was lost on me. I enjoyed the first and last chapters, but the story in the middle gives this one 2 stars.… Read More Book Review: Coconut Unlimited by Nikesh Shukla

Book Review: Lullaby by Leïla Slimani

“Lullaby” is gripping and it’s definitely a thriller, but I don’t know if there is much more I can say. From page one we know how the story is going to end, so the pages explore why and how this has come to happen. When the final page is turned, we still don’t really know the answers so let’s say I enjoyed it but I need some more time to process what I’ve read to truly appreciate it. 3 stars!… Read More Book Review: Lullaby by Leïla Slimani

Book Review: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne

“The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas” is a powerful story that needs telling, even if the story of Bruno and his new friend is not realistic. The true events that lie in the plot are terrible and should not be forgotten so books like this are always worth a read. For me the book didn’t pack as much emotion as the film, but I feel that if I had read this as a child, it would have spoken to me a lot more than it has now. It’s 4 stars from me.… Read More Book Review: The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne

Book Review: I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

“I Let You Go” seemed a promising read when I picked it up but this really wasn’t for me. While it started well I started to lose interest somewhere in the middle and didn’t care for any of the characters or what happened to them. I like thrillers to grip me throughout and keep me on my toes, but this one sadly couldn’t, therefore it’s 2 stars from me.… Read More Book Review: I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

Book Review: What it Means When a Man Falls From the Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah

I didn’t enjoy this collection of short stories. Each story felt unfinished and underwhelming and I found that I couldn’t connect with anything I was reading. Like joining a conversation somewhere in the middle where you’re not 100% what’s going on, these stories seemed more like snippets from a wider story and this lack of connection meant I couldn’t get into most of the stories. I didn’t hate it, some stories were good, so it’s 2 stars for “What it Means When a Man Falls From the Sky”.… Read More Book Review: What it Means When a Man Falls From the Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah
