I gave up on this book having found myself completely lost and I don't feel that I've missed out in doing so. It's 1 star for "The Dictionary of Animal Languages"
It's an easy read but "City of Friends" is full of petty dramas and arguments over nothing. The story doesn't offer anything new or exciting and I don't feel that this book was anything special. I didn't particularly dislike the characters but perhaps I'd prefer it if something dramatic happened - it is fiction after all! It's 2 stars for this one.
I found "The Muse" to be a little underwhelming. I can imagine someone with an interest in art may have enjoyed parts of this book more than I did, but in general it was just an okay read. I enjoyed the charming characters that the author, Jessie Burton, has created and can appreciate that this certainly has a well crafted storyline but as I wasn't entertained, it's 3 stars from me.
"The Bone Clocks" was a massive disappointment. Full of characters I didn't care for and plot points that didn't have any relevance to the story whatsoever, I struggled to finish this book and am glad to have returned it to the library. Holly Sykes was a great character but those around her didn't add much to the story and just made it drag on and on and on. I didn't hate it, but I couldn't love it so "The Bone Clocks" gets 2 stars from me.
