A story of espionage during WW2 sounds like it's going to be a winner, but in reality I found that "Transcription" was a little boring and slow-paced for my liking. I liked the premise, but the story didn't impress - 2 stars.

Book Review: The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton
Again I'm underwhelmed by Jessie Burton, and I'm beginning to think that perhaps she's not the author for me. "The Miniaturist" started well but couldn't really keep me interested and its 400+ pages dragged on quite a lot which definitely didn't help the situation. I didn't hate it but I won't be recommending this book to anyone in a hurry - 2 stars.
Rare Birds Book Club: April 2019
It feels like time is flying by this year and I can't believe that we're already in April and it's time for another Rare Birds Book Club book!
Book Review: Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
The plot is original, the characters are quirky and fun and the language is simplistic. I really enjoyed “Convenience Store Woman” and it has only made me even more eager to pick up more Japanese literature and give it a try – 5 stars!
Book Review: Bridget Jones’s Diary by Helen Fielding
Bridget Jones's Diary was an easy four star read for me. It's certainly not the best book ever written, but it's fun, British and so relatable. Who hasn't had body insecurities, faced a stinking hangover or felt the judgement of others? I'd recommend this book for fans of the film - read it and fall in love with Bridget all over again!
